Delhi’s 70 peripheral villages may see commercial development under new GDA framework

Around 70 villages on Delhi’s outskirts could be brought under a new Green Development Area framework in the DDA’s Master Plan for Delhi-2047. The policy may allow regulated commercial, institutional and higher-density development, including vertical construction, while requiring substantial green cover and improved infrastructure and road connectivity.

New Delhi: Around 70 villages located along Delhi’s periphery could soon see regulated commercial and institutional development under the Green Development Area (GDA) framework of the Delhi Development Authority’s Master Plan for Delhi-2047.

The framework, which was first proposed under the draft Master Plan for Delhi-2041, has reportedly been retained in the final plan, HT reported. It aims to bring 47 villages currently facing construction restrictions and another 23 villages covered........
