Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has released its list of public holidays for the year 2025. According to the notification, there will be a total of 24 public holidays, excluding Saturdays and Sundays. This announcement is in line with the state government’s annual practice of declaring public holidays for the upcoming year.

As per the notification, January will have the maximum number of public holidays, with five days off, including English New Year on January 1, Pongal on January 14, Mattu Pongal/Thiruvalluvar Day on January 15, Uzhavar Thirunal on January 16, and Republic Day on January 26. April and October will have four public holidays each.
