New Delhi: Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored a brace as India started their Hockey World Cup 2026 campaign with a 3-1 victory against Wales in a Pool D match in Amstelveen (The Netherlands) on Saturday, August 15. Playing in front of nearly 10,000 fans at the Wagener Stadium on the country’s Independence Day, India dominated for most of the period and were 3-0 ahead before Wales scored a late goal in the fourth and final quarter.
