New Delhi: This year, we will celebrate the 76th anniversary of India’s Republic Day. Each year, the 26th of January is observed as Republic Day in India. On 26th January 1950, India declared itself a sovereign, democratic, and republican state with the adoption of the Indian Constitution. The Constitution of India replaced British rule as the country’s governing authority. Republic Day is celebrated annually with a public parade along Kartavya Path (formerly known as Rajpath) in New Delhi. The adoption of the Constitution gave Indian citizens the power to elect their own government, enjoy fundamental rights, and live in a free and democratic nation.
