WITT 2025: The need to foolproof our future through safeguarding cybersecurity

New Delhi: The third edition of TV9 Network’s ‘What India Thinks Today’ Global Summit is back, with the key-note address of the event being delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. On the second day of the event, a number of diverse panels, and addresses on a variety of interesting and engaging topics, was undertaken. One of these concerned itself with ‘Cybersecurity’, and the need to bolster it for our future.

The panel for ‘Cybersecurity: Safeguarding the future’ included Sagarika Chakraborty, CEO, IIRIS (India, Gulf & Africa), Sanjay Katkar, Jt MD, Quickheal, Pradeep Gupta, Chairman & MD, CyberMedia and Kanishk Gaur, Cyber Security Expert.

First, responding to the significant rise in high-value cyber frauds, Sagarika Chakraborty responded by saying how our perception of these frauds is flawed from the get go as, “The brains behind the cyber frauds are technical experts, so what do you expect? We think that traditionally it is a ‘chor-police ka game’, wherein the people whom we are chasing are based out of some small town. But no.”

Kanishk Gaur, Cyber Security Expert, further expanded on this adding, “One of the blaring facts today is that this is not just happening from within the country, it’s organised crime which is happening from countries like Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos where there are more than 50,000 people from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, who have gone on tourist visas and are now part of organised cyber criminal gangs who are during people.” He further explained how the business of........
