New Delhi: The woes in Gaza seem to be unending as the recently reached ceasefire deal hangs on a thin thread. Israel has now warned Hamas that it will end the ceasefire in Gaza and resume intense fighting if the Palestinian group “does not return our hostages by Saturday noon [10:00 GMT]”. Hamas responded by saying it remained committed to the ceasefire deal and that Israel was “responsible for any complications or delays”. While it is not certain how Israel would go about dismantling the hard fought ceasefire deal, it is not something that other parties in the region want, particularly many Arab nations who are exerting pressure on Hamas to make the deal work.

These dilemmas come at the back of comments made by US President Donald Trump who recently spoke about his plans of reconstructing Gaza. Trump talked about his plan for the US “take over” of Gaza, relocating Palestinians to neighboring countries and redeveloping the devastating Gaza Strip into a “Riviera of the Middle East.”
