Pedestal talk or justified anger: Why Selena Gomez’s sobs over immigration raids should not be silenced?

New Delhi: In a now deleted Instagram post, actor and musician Selena Gomez was seen crying while talking about the deportation of illegal immigrants currently underway in the United States of America. Gomez was seen sobbing in the video as she said, “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”

In response to her viral post, Trump’s border czar Tom Homan said that those who have a problem with the law should “go to Congress and change the law”. He told Fox News, “If they don’t like it, then go to Congress and change the law. We’re going to do this operation without apology. We’re gonna make our community safer… It is all for the good of this nation. And we’re gonna keep going. No apologies. We’re moving forward.”

Throughout Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign, he was insistent on the issue of anti-immigration and has said he would act strongly against it when voted to power. What has come as a surprise to many is how quickly he has acted on his campaign promise and this has not gone well with many, including Gomez who took to social media to voice her........
