Shubman Gill scripts history, breaks 19-year-old Asian record with half-century in Manchester Test
New Delhi: Team India skipper Shubman Gill created history as he broke former Pakistan batter Mohammad Yousuf’s record for the most runs scored by an Asian batter in a Test series in England. Gill slammed a gritty half-century in India’s second innings on Day 4 of the ongoing 4th Test against England at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday.
It was Gill’s 8th half-century in Test cricket and helped India recover after a disastrous start as the visitors lost two wickets on successive deliveries in the very first over to get reduced to 0/2 in pursuit of England’s first-innings lead of 311 runs. Gill needed only 13 runs ahead of India’s second innings to surpass Yousuf.
Yousuf notched up 631 runs in four matches during Pakistan’s tour of England........
