New Delhi: In what could be a virtual title decider before the all-important final, 10-time champion Novak Djokovic will take on Spanish 3rd seed Carlos Alcaraz in a mouth-watering quarter-final clash at the Australian Open 2025 at Melbourne Park on Tuesday, January 21. Djokovic trounced Jiri Lehecka in straight sets in the Round of 16 while Alcaraz got past Jack Draper, who had to retire from the 4th-round clash against the Spaniard due to an injury.

Not many would have expected a match-up of the magnitude of Djokovic vs Alcaraz as early as in the quarter-finals of the first Grand Slam of the season but thanks to the Serbian great’s lacklustre 2024, the fans at Melbourne Park will be treated to a cracker of a contest on Tuesday. Djokovic failed to win a single Grand Slam in 2024 which resulted in him slipping to the 7th spot in the rankings.
