New Delhi: Star all-rounder Andre Russell bid an emotional farewell to international cricket as Australia thrashed West Indies by 8 wickets in the 2nd T20I at the Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica, on Wednesday. Josh Inglis and Cameron Green spoiled Russell’s farewell with unbeaten half-centuries to help Australia make short work of the 173-run target and go 2-0 up in the five-match series.
Retiring Russell received a grand farewell in front of his home crowd in what was his final appearance for West Indies in international cricket. Russell had announced before the start of the series that he will retire from international cricket after the 2nd T20I against Australia at his home ground.
Russell did light up the Sabina Park with his brutal onslaught enroute to a cracking 15-ball 36, but it was not enough to get West Indies over the line. Inglis stole the thunder from the Jamaican star with his blistering knock of unbeaten 78 off just 33 balls.
