New Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah was the standout performer with the ball for India in the recently concluded first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at Headingley in Leeds. Bumrah picked up a five-wicket haul during England’s first innings, before going wicketless in the second as India lost the game by 5 wickets to go 1-0 down in the five-match series.

Bumrah was the lone warrior for India during England’s first innings at Headingley, as he failed to find enough support from the other pacers. The pacer couldn’t replicate his heroics in the second, but was arguably India’s best bowler in the game. Despite his heroics and an ordinary show from India’s otehr pacers, head coach Gautam Gambhir has confirmed Bumrah will only play three Tests in the series, as decided.

The 31-year-old’s workload is a major concern for the team management, and it has not been decided which two Tests Bumrah will miss in the ongoing series.........
