Opinion | How Donald Trump And Lalu Yadav, Men Of Same Clay, Conceal Chaos With Clownery
Politicians usually suppress words and expressions that reveal their minds. And some express with diarrhoeic abundance to conceal what is really on their mind.
There is Donald Trump. A man so reckless with his tongue that he publicly suggests the desire to date his own daughter, calls the fast-growing major economy (that too of the US’s stated ally) India a “dead" one, and declares himself a “war hero".
As President of the United States, he is presiding over perhaps America’s greatest foreign relations meltdown ever. But as a man widely suspected by mental health professionals to have Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), his mind is constantly calculating how his domestic low-literacy MAGA constituency responds to his crazed bravado or his personal wins for his business (from a Pakistani cryptocurrency deal, for instance) that he will go back to after demitting office.
Like Lalu Prasad Yadav in Indian politics, Trump is a man who utters every deranged word to normalise chaos, push the boundaries of his opponents’ patience, and hide moral and material corruption.
Lalu once plainly admitted it.
“I know some people say I can be funny. But there is always a deeper meaning to what I say," he said.
Bluster and coarse humour have helped both Trump........
