The Issue: Mayor Mamdani’s inauguration, officially making him New York City’s 112th mayor.

It’s insane to me that New York City, my former home, beginning Jan. 1, 2026, has officially descended into what can only be described as chaos and incompetence (“The Commie of a new era,” Jan. 2).

“Elections have consequences,” goes the old saying. Well, all New Yorkers have to brace themselves for what is to come.

I sincerely feel sorry for the friends and family I left behind. I know they didn’t vote for this. We can only hope Mayor Mamdani will be a one-and-done mayor.

I hope that Mamdani learned the No. 1 rule of Economics at Bowdoin College: If you rob Peter enough times to pay for Paul, Peter just leaves.

May Mamdani fail soon and fail often. And may he take Gov. Hochul with him.
