Canada is not immune to the global rise of hate-motivated incidents. From vandalized places of worship to online harassment, intimidation at our universities/colleges, and public displays of extremist symbols, these are not isolated acts. They are part of a growing pattern that threatens the safety and cohesion of our country.

According to Statistics Canada, in 2024 there were 4,882 hate incidents reported. Hate crimes motivated by religion accounted for 1,343 (27.5 per cent) with the two largest groups affected being Jewish Canadians, with 920 incidents reported, and Muslim Canadians, representing 229 incidents. Ethnically motivated hate crimes remain prevalent, with Black Canadians continuing to be disproportionately impacted.
