Re: Trump says Board of Peace is withdrawing its invitation to Carney — Derek Wallbank, Jan. 22
The world’s newest nation has been announced, named Trumpland. It occupies that part of the Middle East formerly known as Gaza. The new state is governed and owned by a private corporation whose board of directors have each paid US$1 billion for their seat. The chairman and CEO is Donald Trump, and he has been appointed for life, with the right to name his successor. He also has the power to invite new board members and remove sitting ones, as he chooses.
Trumpland, formerly occupied by an Arab population under the rule of an Iranian-funded proxy, will now become a rival to the Riviera and to the Amalfi Coast. Replete with high-end resorts and casinos, hotels and golf courses, Trumpland investors — who include such figures as Vladimir Putin and a bevy of American and other billionaires — believe this new nation will become the next world model. Countries owned by corporations and existing solely for profit are seen as the “highest and best use” for land, and Gaza represents an incredible bargain.

The board plans to retain civic planners from Dubai to provide expert advice on how to best create a corporate nation, but it is believed that Chairman Trump will be a very hands-on controller. Expropriations are expected to be started within two years, with landowners offered the choice of jobs as waiters, caddies and cleaning staff, or a free ticket to a nearby or perhaps far away country.
There has not been any announcement of a possible IPO, but insiders say that it will definitely be announced within the next five years. Chairman Trump has said that the country will not apply for a seat at the United Nations, as it intends to replace that institution, seen by him in his world view to be a relic of a past era.
Satirically yours, Tom Curran, Consecon, Ont.
Re: ‘The deadlines are real’: Feds launch firearms ‘buyback’ with March deadline for compensation — Stephanie Taylor, Jan. 17
The Liberal gun buyback program has transformed into a lottery that no one can win. Registering for the buyback program guarantees that a law-abiding gun owner will have to turn over a legally-acquired firearm, but with no guarantee of receiving any payment, let alone a fair market price. Based on these rules, the Liberal program is more properly described as theft.
The general public loses because no matter how many guns are seized, the criminal shootings plaguing Canada will continued unabated. Liberal policy continues to be driven by ideology rather than common sense.
