Boris Johnson-loving gaffe-machine Nadine Dorries has joined Reform UK, begging the question: Are there any ex-Tories the party won’t accept?

The former cabinet minister, who quit as a Conservative MP in 2023 in protest at not being given a peerage, declared that her former party was “dead” as she jumped ship on Thursday night.

Her announcement came as Reform UK members gather in Birmingham for the party’s annual conference.

Dorries joins an ever-growing list of failed right-wing former Tory ministers who have decided to throw their lot in with Reform as the party continues to lead in the polls.

Others include Dame Andrea Jenkyns, who infamously once gave the middle finger to protesters outside Downing Street, and Jake Berry, who was briefly Conservative chairman under Liz Truss.
