Keir Starmer Makes Plea For Cabinet Unity After Days Of Labour In-Fighting
Keir Starmer addresses a cabinet meeting in 10 Downing Street.
Keir Starmer has made a plea for cabinet unity after he was forced to declare he will still be prime minister come the next general election.
The prime minister told his senior ministers they need to be “working as a team” to deliver for voters after days of bitter in-fighting at the top of government.
Starmer’s comments, at the weekly cabinet meeting, came after No.10 sources last week accused health secretary Wes Streeting of plotting to oust him as PM.
He is also understood to be unhappy that Rachel Reeves’ U-turn on plans to increase income tax in the Budget was leaked to the Financial Times.
