Donald Trump has called on Republican politicians to vote to release files relating to the late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The surprise move is a major U-turn for the US president, who had previously been opposed to the move amid claims they could be personally damaging for him.

Some documents which have already been released hint at the extent of Trump’s relationship with the disgraced financier.

Trump announced his change of heart as a large number of Republicans in the US House of Representatives were preparing to back a Democrat bill calling for the Epstein files to be made public.
