Wes Streeting has been accused of being on leadership manoeuvres.

Cabinet splits have burst into the open after allies of Keir Starmer accused health secretary Wes Streeting of plotting against him.

Senior No.10 sources said the Labour leader would take on any challengers as concerns mount about his performance as prime minister.

In particular, they accused Streeting of mounting a bid to unseat him, possibly in the wake of what promises to be a difficult Budget, with Rachel Reeves set to break Labour’s manifesto pledge not to put up income tax.

One source told The Guardian: “Keir will not stand aside at this point, for Wes or anybody else.
