Nadine Dorries on Question Time

Nadine Dorries was laughed at by the BBC Question Time audience as she tried to explain how Reform would stop asylum seekers crossing the English Channel in small boats.

The former Tory cabinet minister, who defected to Nigel Farage’s party last month, said Britain would never be able to “protect our own borders” until we leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).

Presenter Fiona Bruce pointed out that other countries in Europe have managed to reduce immigration while being in the ECHR.
