Kemi Badenoch has been condemned over her plans to introduce Donald Trump-style immigration raids to the UK.

The Tory leader said her new policy was “modelled on” the controversial Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) squads in America.

Their brutal tactics have been widely criticised by the president’s opponents amid claims that US citizens have also been rounded up by them.

Nevertheless, Badenoch insisted she wanted to see the same methods employed in Britain by a so-called “Removals Force” she plans to set up if she becomes prime minister.

She made the announcement as part of the Conservatives’ plans to deport 150,000 immigrants a year if they win the next election.

Badenoch said: “My message is clear: if you’re here illegally, you will be detained and deported. Our new Removals Force, modelled on US ICE, will deport 150,000 illegal migrants each year.”
