One of Vladimir Putin’s top allies taunted Ukraine’s Western allies this morning by claiming they were “outplayed” by Donald Trump.

The US president hosted his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the White House yesterday as part of his latest bid to end Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Other key leaders from Europe including the UK’s Keir Starmer, France’s Emmanuel Macron, Italy’s Giorgia Meloni, Germany’s Friedrich Merz, Finland’s president Alexander Stubb, Nato’s secretary general Mark Rutte and the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen were also in attendance.
