Leaked Transcript Shows Why Trump's Peace Plan Had Russian Fingerprints All Over It
Russian President Vladimir Putin, left, and U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, right, shake hands during their meeting in Moscow, Russia, Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025.
Donald Trump’s special envoy told a senior Kremlin adviser how to win over the White House with its peace deal, according to a damning new call transcript.
Bloomberg News revealed on Tuesday that Steve Witkoff told Yuri Ushakov on October 14 that he should call the US president to congratulate him for the Gaza peace deal, make Russia’s support for it clear, and declare Trump a man of peace.
According to the transcript, Trump’s envoy said: “From that, it’s going to be a really good call.”
Witkoff even urged the Russian adviser to tell Putin “Steve and Yuri discussed a very similar 20-point plan to peace and that could be something that we think might move the needle a little bit, we’re open to those sorts of things.”
