David Lammy Says Reform UK MP's 'Racist' Take On TV Ads 'Belong In The Dark Ages'
Nigel Farage looks on while David Lammy says a Reform UK MP's views on TV ads belong "in the dark ages"
David Lammy claimed a Reform UK MP’s “racist” attack on the lack of white people on TV adverts “belongs in the dark ages” while attacking the right-wing party in prime minister’s questions.
It comes after Reform MP Sarah Pochin sparked backlash for commenting on the race of people who appear in TV adverts less than two weeks ago.
The deputy prime minister was standing in for Keir Starmer this week while the PM attends a major UN climate conference in Brazil when he lambasted Nigel Farage’s party.
Labour MP Tristan Osborne set Lammy up beforehand by asking the senior minister to respond to Reform’s management of Kent County Council – several councillors have recently been suspended or expelled from the council, which recently came under Reform’s control.
Lammy replied: “Reform said that Kent County Council would be the best advert for what a Reform government would look like.
“They’re delivering on the chaos they promised and on standards in public life.”
He then pivoted slightly, adding: “I used to replace the honourable gentleman [Farage] on LBC, so we’ve known each other for many years.........
