Trump Just Threatened To Revoke Rosie O’Donnell’s US Citizenship – Here's Why
The US President threatened to revoke O'Donnell's citizenship over the weekend.
Donald Trump reignited a bitter feud that goes back nearly two decades when he threatened to revoke Rosie O’Donnell’s citizenship over the weekend.
In a post shared to Truth Social on Saturday, the US president called the actor and comedian a “threat to humanity”, who is not in “the best interest” of the country.
He then claimed he was “giving serious consideration to taking away her citizenship”.
While Rosie has already fired back at the president, this fresh exchange is far from the first time the pair have traded barbs.
It all started when Rosie laid into Trump during her time as a presenter on The View in 2006, which sparked a rivalry that has lasted nearly 20 years.
If you’re wondering why their long-running feud is making headlines once again, here’s what has gone down between the pair over the last week and beyond.
Rosie had strong words to say about Trump just hours before he threatened her citizenship
The ‘Rosie vs. Trump’ dispute has been ongoing for many years at this point, but the actor and comedian made fresh comments about the president just hours before he launched a new tirade on his Truth Social platform.
Speaking in a new interview with HuffPost UK which went live on Saturday morning, the screen legend explained why she relocated with her 12-year-old child to Ireland earlier this year.
“I needed a place where I could slow it down and remove him from the scary place he lives in my psyche,” she explained, adding that she has “no regrets” about the decision.
She also reflected on the impact of her public dispute with Trump, saying: “I do say to myself sometimes, ‘what are the chances that the one guy that I exposed for being a misogynist and a sexist pig on The View would become the president of the United States, and would still be hung up on the fact that I told the truth about him?’. I think to myself, ‘boy, my life would be easier if this hadn’t happened’,” she continued.
She also spoke about how the rivalry became a bit of a punchline, before ultimately remarking that Trump has been a “very… shocking addition to my reality”.
Rosie also spoke about the “cost” of the battle being too high for her, especially because she had to think about the wellbeing of her child, Clay, who is non-binary and autistic.
Elsewhere in the interview, she spoke of Trump’s second term being “exponentially worse” than his first.
She also called him........
