Strictly Come Dancing is once again back in the headlines

Reports of cocaine use behind the scenes of Strictly Come Dancing have now led to a police investigation.

Earlier this month, The Sun published an article claiming the BBC was launching an internal probe into allegations that two undisclosed stars from last year’s series had taken the class A drug.

At the time, a spokesperson for the show said: “We have clear protocols and policies in place for dealing with any serious complaint raised with us.

“We would always encourage people to speak to us if they have concerns. It would not be appropriate for us to comment further.”

On Sunday, BBC News reported that the matter was now being investigated by the police.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said it had “received an allegation about drug-related offences”, and that officers have begun “assessing the information”.
