As the buzz around (and, indeed, backlash to) the latest season of Ryan Murphy’s Monster is slowly starting to slow down, fans of the divisive true crime series might be pondering what’s next for the franchise?

Well, the good news is that Netflix has already announced that a fourth season of the anthology series is now in the works, and it’s going to be markedly different to the first three iterations.

What will season 4 of Netflix’s Monster be about?

After the first three seasons centred around Jeffrey Dahmer, the Menéndez brothers and Ed Gein (with varying levels of controversy), the fourth will focus on the true story of Lizzie Borden.

This marks the first time Monster has featured a female protagonist, as well as the first time the show has dived further back in time than the 20th century.
