Lily Allen is back after a seven-year break from the music scene with her latest release West End Girl

Lily Allen’s new album captured the whole world’s attention when it was released last month – not least as it appears to spill all kinds of jaw-dropping details about the breakdown of her relationship with her famous ex-husband David Harbour.

The Brit Award winner recently told Perfect magazine that West End Girl is a work of “autofiction” and, in a separate interview with British Vogue, described the material as being “inspired by what went on” in her marriage, albeit with artistic licence applied.

When played through front-to-back, the 14 songs seemingly detail the slow end of a relationship after one party suggests opening up the marriage, only to then “change the goalposts” and go against an “agreement” that had been set in place.

Immediately upon its release, West End Girl sparked plenty of speculation about what had inspired it, and the album has only continued to grow in popularity in the last few weeks, recently reaching a new chart peak here in the UK, while an accompanying live tour sold out just minutes after general release tickets went on sale.

Lead single Easy On Me set the tone for what was to come for the rest of the album, pleading with an ex to understand that she was “still a child” and “didn’t get the chance to feel the world around me” in the early years of their courtship.

Adele previously said she wrote 30 as a way of explaining to her son how her split from his dad came about once he is grown-up with one of the album’s most personal moments even featuring voice recordings of herself and her child discussing their family dynamics.

By the end track, Love Is A Game, Adele reflects on romance with a more cynical tone, but confesses in its closing moments: “You know, I’ll do it all again…”

Ariana Grande – Thank U, Next

During the recording of her fourth album Sweetener, Ariana Grande found herself in a whirlwind relationship with comedian Pete Davidson, to whom she became engaged after just a few short months of dating.

By the time follow-up Thank U, Next came out just six months later, she........
