If you can’t get through an episode of any British drama without consulting Google to see where you know the cast from, then Netflix’s Hostage is going to be an embarrassment of riches for you.

Led by Suranne Jones, the show centres around a fictitious prime minister who is forced to make some crucial decisions when she learns that her husband has been kidnapped and is being held hostage.

As well as plenty of cliffhangers and binge-able twists, the show also boasts an impressive predominantly-British cast, including some rather familiar faces.

Suranne Jones’ breakthrough moment came in the early 2000s when she was cast as Karen Phillips in Coronation Street, a role she played for four years. Since then, she’s appeared in shows like Vigil, Scott & Bailey, Vanity Fair and Gentleman Jack.

In 2016, she won a Bafta for her leading performance in the gripping domestic drama Doctor Foster. From time to time, we also enjoy revisiting her oft-forgotten performance as Madonna on Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes

Julie Delpy’s big-screen work includes Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Three Colours trilogy (in particular White), Before Sunset and Before Midnight (both of which she co-wrote) and 2 Days In Paris.

You may have also spotted her in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, in which she played Madame B, or the medical drama ER, starring in seven episodes back in 2001.
