Suranne Jones has already won a wave of praise for her role in the new thriller Hostage.

After making a name for herself as Underworld machinist Karen in Coronation Street, Suranne has gone on to appear in a number of prestigious shows, including everything from Scott & Bailey and Vigil to Vanity Fair and Gentleman Jack.

The British star even won a TV Bafta for her work in the gripping Doctor Foster, and with her latest project streaming on Netflix, she could well be about to win over a legion of new international fans, too.

But what about the Suranne Jones roles that aren’t so well-remembered? Well, here are just nine of them that you might have clean forgotten about…

Coronation Street

Yes, it’s well-documented that Suranne Jones’ real breakthrough moment came when she was cast as Karen in Coronation Street, a role she played for four years and saw her take centre stage in a number of gripping storylines.

But what you might not realise is that she actually appeared in the soap once before, in a one-off role back in 1997 as Many Phillips (a love interest of mechanic Chris Collins, played by heartthrob Matthew Marsden), three years before becoming a permanent fixture.

Vincent
