George Clooney has shared his frank take on last year’s American presidential election.

As well as his award-winning acting career, Clooney is also known for voicing his political views, and is a staunch supporter of the US Democratic party.

Months before the election got underway, the Gravity star penned a piece in the New York Times titled: “I Love Joe Biden. But We Need a New Nominee.”

In the article, Clooney called on Joe Biden to drop out of the race, after his initial debates against Donald Trump raised eyebrows among his supporters.

“We are not going to win in November with this president,” he wrote in the piece. “On top of that, we won’t win the House, and we’re going to lose the Senate.

“This isn’t only my opinion; this is the opinion of every senator and Congress member and governor who I’ve spoken with in private. Every single one, irrespective of what he or she is saying publicly.”

Eventually, Biden did drop out of the race, and was replaced by his vice president Kamala........
