The First Wives Club stars Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn are among those who have paid tribute to Hollywood legend Diane Keaton, after the news of her death broke over the weekend.

Bette and Goldie have both paid their respects to their former co-star, who it was announced on Saturday evening had died at the age of 79.

Posting on Instagram, Bette wrote: “The brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary Diane Keaton has died. I cannot tell you how unbearably sad this makes me.

“She was hilarious, a complete original, and completely without guile, or any of the competitiveness one would have expected from such a star. What you saw was who she was…oh, la, la........
