A question mark has been hovering over Doctor Who’s future for the last few months, but it sounds like fans of the franchise’s latest output can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Rumours have been swirling about whether or not Doctor Who would remain on the air ever since The Sun reported in February that a decision about its future had not yet been made, and claimed that the BBC was considering “shelving the series for at least five years” (a spokesperson for the broadcaster later insisted to HuffPost UK that “Doctor Who has not been shelved”).
