Winona Ryder has claimed that it was only through speaking to her Beetlejuice co-star Jenna Ortega that she realised the severity of one former director’s abusive treatment of her on set.

The Stranger Things actor recently sat down for an interview with Elle UK, in which he reflected on some of the more difficult situations she has found herself in over the course of her acting career.

During the interview, Winona recalled speaking to the producers of one unnamed film about the “inappropriate” way its director was behaving towards her, and asking if they could speak to him about his conduct.

“The next day I had a big scene,” she explained, noting that the filmmaker in question approached her and said: “So, um, if we just try it like…”
