Paul Mescal Shares 'Unforgettable' Paul McCartney Moment Ahead Of New Beatles Film
Paul Mescal and Paul McCartney
Paul Mescal has opened up about one recent moment he got to share with Paul McCartney that he’s described as the “coolest thing my job has ever afforded me”.
The Oscar nominee recently began his preparations to play the iconic musician for Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopic – and had some help getting into character from the man himself.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Mescal described the “out-of-body experience” of playing The Beatles staple Blackbird alongside McCartney.
“That’s the coolest thing that my job has ever afforded me. I was kind of having an out-of-body experience, being like, ‘I was in drama school nine years ago, and now I’m sat opposite Paul McCartney and we’re playing Blackbird’,” he shared.
“I will never forget it as long as I live.”
Mescal went on to say that he’s always been a “massive admirer” of McCartney’s music, calling the singer-songwriter’s work ethic “absolutely relentless.”
“I’m biased, but I think it’s kind of just an objective fact that like the work that he made has changed the world, the world of pop culture and culture more broadly,” he told the outlet. “I think he has fundamentally and forever changed the world.”
