Sir Gary Oldman outside Windsor Castle on Tuesday

Sir Gary Oldman paid a visit to Windsor Castle this week to receive his knighthood for services to drama.

After the event on Tuesday, he revealed to the press that Prince William, who bestowed him with the title, took the opportunity to poke fun at one of his most famous characters during the ceremony.

Talking to reporters, Sir Gary revealed that Prince William had told him he was “a fan” of the Apple TV series Slow Horses, for which the actor has received universal praise thanks to his performance as the scruffy and flatulent spy Jackson Lamb.

“He says, ‘every time I see you, I just want to give you a good wash’,” the Oscar winner claimed (as reported by The Sun). “And I said, ‘well, I think I’ve scrubbed up OK today’.”
