When it comes to our dogs, there’s absolutely nothing we wouldn’t do to keep them happy and healthy. In lots of ways, this starts with the food we put in their bowls. But every dog is different, and picking the right stuff to feed your four-legged pal at mealtimes is no simple feat.

If anybody tries to tell you anything along the lines of “they’re just a dog, they’ll eat whatever”, then they’re totally missing the point (and clearly have never had a dog). And even if a dog might eat “whatever” (and trust me, some dogs are pretty fussy), that doesn’t mean they should.

My dog is a virtual hoover in the streets, capable of eating all manner of literal trash with gusto if we don’t watch out. But we do watch out, because scarfing down old chicken bones and saucy sandwich wrappers is not good for him.
