Labubus – the cute and mischievous-looking toys that fashionable people are largely using as bag charms – are huge right now, make no mistake.

Seen on the purses of industry insiders at fashion weeks across the world, Labubu has gone from being just one character in a series of books by a Hong Kong-born artist called Kasing Lung to a globally recognised little icon.

But whenever a trend this specific gets this big this quickly, I worry that it’s just going to be a flash in the pan, and that as soon as I jump on board, the whole thing will be over.

Now look, sometimes these worries are misplaced, but sometimes they’re not. And if I’m wrong about this one, there will still be plenty of Labubus out there should I decide to jump on the bandwagon later.

But until then, if you’re like me, dear reader, and you want to shop for something that fits the wider bag charm trend in a way that’s more uniquely you, then here are some alternative options to shop instead.
