As a lawyer with many years of experience in estate management, it’s perhaps no surprise that I think getting your affairs in order is an absolute essential. An estimated 60% of adults in the UK do not have a will, and if you’re one of them, your loved ones could face some deeply unpleasant consequences after your death.

For me, there are five principal reasons why you really should get a Will drawn up:

Firstly, and crucially, if you die intestate, there will be delays and extra costs involved in administering your estate.
