Good will? Why getting your estate sorted really, really matters
As a lawyer with many years of experience in estate management, it’s perhaps no surprise that I think getting your affairs in order is an absolute essential. An estimated 60% of adults in the UK do not have a will, and if you’re one of them, your loved ones could face some deeply unpleasant consequences after your death.
For me, there are five principal reasons why you really should get a Will drawn up:
Firstly, and crucially, if you die intestate, there will be delays and extra costs involved in administering your estate. An Executor will have to be appointed through court and it might be necessary to obtain specialist insurance. These events will not only add a couple of hundred pounds to costs but also an additional average of 6-10........
