Glasgow is on the up – now give us the new powers and resources to thrive
Something is happening in Glasgow. Alongside our UK peers of Greater Manchester and the West Midlands, Glasgow city region is attracting significant funding from UK government underpinning the city region’s decision to invest in its innovation economy and the creation of Scotland’s principal Innovation Districts in partnership with Scottish Government and Scottish Enterprise: Glasgow City Innovation District (GCID) in Glasgow city centre, Glasgow Riverside Innovation District (GRID) around Govan and the West End and the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS) adjacent to Glasgow Airport and home to the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland and the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre, amongst others.
Across Glasgow’s city centre and beyond, GCID is supporting innovation-led companies in key industry sectors including Digital & AI, Energy, Space, FinTech, HealthTech, Advanced Communications and Quantum. GCID has led the development and growth of Glasgow’s innovation ecosystem with the now annual Glasgow Tech Week which this year saw 40 events hosted across the city, in collaboration with 80 industry partners, attracting over 3,000 participants and investors from across the UK and confirming its position as Scotland’s leading innovation showcase.
