The UK’s forthcoming ban on disposable vapes in June highlights a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to curb youth vaping rates and mitigate environmental damage. The Government’s ban on disposable vapes is praiseworthy in its efforts to combat youth vaping and the increasing waste issue; however, it has led to a rise in super-sized ‘Big-Puff’ disposable vapes that exploit regulatory loopholes.

Big Puff devices circumvent the legal 2 ml e-liquid capacity limit for disposables via supplemental plug-in tanks, frequently exceeding 10 ml. Hundreds of products receive weekly MHRA approval, disguised as reusable through legislative gaps, but can only function as single-use 12ml units – six times the legal limit.

Marketed as rechargeable because of their low-quality batteries and replaceable 10ml pods, these devices remain fundamentally........
