I’m thinking I’m going to get a good amount of backlash for this column because, well, folks seem to be a tad touchy about things these days.

But after you’ve read it, if you stop and think about it for a moment, you may find it an interesting look at human nature.

Have you ever noticed that pride in being American seems to be a running theme through a large swath of life here in our country? We seem to have endless songs on country radio about how proud everyone is to be an American, how the red, white, and blue inspires pride in folks, and how proud we all are of, well, just about everything having to do with the fact that we were born here.

I find this all fascinating.
