No one would suggest that being Alberta’s finance minister is an easy job — it’s fair to say finance ministers have to make difficult decisions.
Some decisions, though, are more difficult than others. Last week’s Alberta budget certainly wasn’t the first to deliver ramped up spending, lower taxes and a hope that resource revenues will, at some point, ride to the rescue and bridge the gap.
