The latest poll of Albertans’ political attitudes, conducted by the Leger research company in late January, shows more than half Albertans (59 per cent) think the province is on the wrong track, compared to 34 per cent who feel it is headed in the right direction.

Albertans’ No. 1 issue is health care, and there the UCP government of Premier Danielle Smith is underwater by 43 percentage points. Sixty-seven per cent of voters disapprove of the UCP’s job on health care, while just 24 per cent approve.
Such a combination is usually bad news for a sitting government: citizens unhappy with the direction of the province, plus a lack of confidence in the government’s response to their top issue.
