Pair in court over Bronze Age relic ‘dug up in garden’ and offered to British Museum

Robert Long, 72, and John Fisher, 41, face a string of allegations relating to items illegally dug up but not declared as treasure.

Both are accused of illegally dealing "tainted cultural objects" between November 2021 and January 2022.

Not reporting any precious metal objects that are more than 300 years old to the local coroner is a criminal offence under the terms of the Treasure Act (1996).
