Driver told he was ‘murder suspect’ while helping at fatal crash wins police pay out

Sohale Rahman took legal action alleging false imprisonment after he was detained and had his car seized at the scene of an accident in which a 52-year-old cyclist was killed.

He was driving home to Norfolk when he witnessed the collision involving a BMW on the A617 at Upton, near Newark, in Nottinghamshire in May 2018.

Mr Rahman, from Marshland St James, between King’s Lynn and Wisbech, said he had called 999 and attempted to assist in the aftermath of the “very traumatic situation”.
