Plans to use brickworks site to aid £59m flood scheme spark traffic fears
Mick George Ltd has submitted a proposal to Suffolk County Council to begin extracting clay from the Gisleham Brick and Pipeworks site, near Lowestoft.
The material is set to be used to help the construction of flood embankments in the Benacre flood protection scheme.
However, with 150 lorry loads expected per day Monday to Friday on the single-track road, neighbours are concerned that it will become “absolute carnage”.

Permission has previously been granted for the extraction of the site, in Brickworks Lane, with it to be worked in a sequence of phases and on the condition it will be restored by December 31 2033.
