Dilapidated hotel building set for new lease of life after 13 years
Officials are recommending plans to convert the 18th century Grade II-listed Kings Head on Bungay's Market Place into apartments should be approved.
Councillors are due to decide on the fate of the building - which closed as a hotel in 2012 - next week.
Ahead of the meeting, council officers have advised the conversion of the property - along with the nextdoor Odd Fellows Hall - should go ahead.
If councillors agree, it will bring to an end years of uncertainty about the prominent buildings, which have become an eyesore in the centre of the town.
