Crew of flagship research vessel to strike over pay and conditions
The Unite union members employed by AW Crewing will be walking away from Cefas Endeavour, a government survey ship based in the Suffolk town, in September.
Lowestoft is home to a Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) laboratory.
The strike will take place between September 9 and 12 after Unite said the crew are paid less than their counterparts working for the same firm on other vessels.
Unite said the crew have "extremely skilled" roles and said it was "utterly wrong" to be paid less than other colleagues.
Sharon Graham, Unite general secretary, said: "It is utterly wrong that these workers with very specialist skills are being offered less money than their counterparts working for the same company.
"AW Crewing can afford to put its hands........
