98-year-old wartime Wren receives surprise honour
Laurel MacDonald, from Beccles, was only 18 when she joined the war effort in the Women's Royal Naval Service.
And since then, the former Wren has remained an active member of the Royal Naval Association (RNA) in the town's branch, selling Remembrance Day poppies and attending parades in London.
Now, she has been presented with a certificate signed by Vice Admiral Duncan L Potts in recognition for 40 years of dedication to the RNA.
